Nutrition 101

 
 

A question I hear a lot is what is a macro? How much water should I drink? What foods should I eat or avoid? How many calories should I have? Paleo? Keto? HIgh carb? Low carb? My advice is to do what works best for you! It could be a mix of a variety different approaches. Eat foods you enjoy and have some fun foods in moderation! Everyone is different depending on their goals, past eating history and starting point. If we tried to change all your habits at once that is setting you up to fail! In other posts I will discuss Macros, meal timing etc. Overall consistency and building good daily habits and routine are key to success. A few points to get you started are

  1. Hit your daily protein intake, protein will help you build muscles!

  2. Drink 2-4 Litres of water

  3. Eat fruits and veggies daily

  4. Enjoy a variety of foods to make sure you get micronutrients

  5. Follow the 80/20 rule of staying on plan with whole foods, limiting processed sugary refined foods or if you are going to have them time it around your workout.
